A Note From The Principal Linguist

Language is a lived experience.

I have always believed that language is the ultimate form of respect for a place, its culture, and the people who call it home.

Having navigated multiple languages myself, growing up with Swahili, English, and Dholuo, and later immersing myself in Mandarin and Korean, I understand firsthand how language functions in the real world. It is far more than grammar rules to be memorized. It is a lived experience.

Over the years, working alongside global professionals, diplomats, and leaders arriving in East Africa, I noticed a persistent gap. Many possessed a deep desire to integrate, to speak, and to move comfortably through their new environment. Yet, standard options routinely failed them.

They were handed generic, rigid frameworks that ignored their demanding schedules, offered no daily continuity, and stripped the language of its cultural richness.

When instruction is detached from real life, retention vanishes.

I founded The Private Linguist to create an alternative: something more intentional. We do not ask you to fit into a system; we build the framework around your life, your pace, and your distinct objectives.

Following the consultation and assessment, where applicable, we determine the appropriate engagement and programme structure for your needs.
You will then receive the relevant programme details, including the schedule, duration, and applicable fee.

Confirmation
Once the engagement framework is agreed and formalised, your schedule is reserved exclusively within our client calendar. We finalize all operational details, establish your routine touchpoints, and initiate your programme.

Commencement
Your programme begins on the agreed commencement date. From there, your engagement proceeds according to the structure established for you.
